HARRISBURG – Rep. Stephenie Scialabba (R-Butler) announced Mars and Zelienople boroughs are receiving a combined $224,108 from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) to assist with ongoing projects.

Below are the allocations and project descriptions:

   • Mars Borough – $151,868 for reconstruction and resurfacing of Spring Avenue Road.   
   • Zelienople Borough – $72,240 to install a pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of Main and Spring streets.

The MTF is designed to ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to all Pennsylvanians. The funding is used to improve transportation infrastructure that enhances communities, pedestrian safety and transit revitalization.

On Sept. 23, PennDOT will begin accepting applications for the next round of funding for grants under this program. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Nov. 5. PennDOT expects to announce grant recipients next year for funding that will be available in July 2025.
