BUTLER COUNTY – Rep. Stephenie Scialabba (R-Butler) announced today local residents will soon benefit from state grant funding that was awarded to Cranberry Township and Harmony Borough through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).

“Our municipal parks, open and green spaces offer a variety of recreational opportunities that improve the quality of life for our residents,” said Scialabba. “The funds from these grants will help enhance the quality and variety of outdoor experiences our area has to offer both now and in the future. It was my pleasure to advocate for this funding.”

Cranberry Township will receive a grant of approximately $2.8 million, the largest grant awarded, to further develop Cranberry Township Community Park. The work includes construction of pedestrian walkways, pavilion, comfort facility, multipurpose fields, access drive, parking area and stormwater management measures; installation of lighting and utilities; and ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.

Harmony Borough will receive a grant of $55,600 to rehabilitate Harmony Borough Park. Scialabba visited the park and felt the need for improvements was imminent. The work includes construction of a pedestrian walkway; installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing; and ADA access, landscaping and project sign.

The C2P2 program is administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Bureau of Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts, and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects.
